Add snow to anything in Blender

Learn how to add believable snow to your scenes in Blender.

If you’re looking for a simple and seasonal project to tackle over the coming weeks, why not try creating a wintery scene in Blender?

The thought of creating realistic snow in 3D may seem daunting but Blender actually has a built in plugin which makes fast work of adding believable looking snow to objects.

Unfortunately, I’ve noticed that quite a few tutorials which make use of this plugin miss out the essential steps required to achieve the best results.

I therefore decided to put together a quick tutorial of my own which will give you a solid understanding of how to use this tool whilst also covering a couple of things I haven’t seen mentioned elsewhere.

One thing to note, if you’re using Blender 4 to follow along with the tutorial, make sure that you are using version 4.0.2 since the plugin was broken in the earlier versions of the software.

It is probably worth upgrading Blender to 4.0.2 anyway, since it includes a number of other important bug fixes.

I hope that you enjoy the tutorial and feel inspired to create some fun, snow filled, scenes of your own.
